E-Keeper has released eKXBRL, a software component that reduces the time it takes for a developer to generate XBRL-compatible code for financial reporting. XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is an Internet specification that first appeared on the financial and accounting scene in October of 1999. It uses a financial reporting specification to facilitate open exchange of financial reporting data across all software and technologies.

Hyperion (Nasdaq: HYSL) CFO David Odell foresees that an important emerging technology standard will expedite business problem-solving throughout the enterprise. The technology, called XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language), is designed to increase transparency and make communicating financial and business information more efficient and less costly. When used in conjunction with Business Performance Management software, XBRL will help CFOs in their efforts to keep employees focused on current corporate goals, to continually update business plans and to drive accountability.

XBRL is the specification for the eXtensible Business Reporting Language. XBRL allows software vendors, programmers and end users who adopt it as a specification to enhance the creation, exchange, and comparison of business reporting information. Business reporting includes, but is not limited to, financial statements, financial information, non-financial information, general ledger transactions, and regulatory filings such as annual and quarterly financial statements.

Investors, the financial markets and regulators can look forward to accessing more accurate and reliable financial information faster as the result of an electronic reporting initiative currently being trialed in New Zealand.

EDGAR Online has unveiled a new service called XBRL Express, which is to become a public repository for XBRL-tagged company financial statements, at yesterday’s Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) organization meeting.

Dean Harry Norman, University Extended Education Services, California State University, Fullerton, has created an XBRL Advisory Group and is seeking volunteers to serve. The initial XBRL Advisory Group members should work in Southern California or visit Southern California frequently in order to attend meetings in person in Fullerton, California. Time to learn another acronym.
