ACCPAC International, Inc., a division of Computer Associates' (NYSE: CA) interBiz group, today praised the release of the initial U.S. financial reporting specification of the XBRL Committee, an industry body creating a standards-based method of preparing, publishing, exchanging and analyzing financial statements in a variety of formats. At the same time, ACCPAC urged the Committee to move quickly to push for adoption of XBRL specifications worldwide.

XBRL is the specification for the eXtensible Business Reporting Language. XBRL allows software vendors, programmers and end users who adopt it as a specification to enhance the creation, exchange, and comparison of business reporting information. Business reporting includes, but is not limited to, financial statements, financial information, non-financial information, general ledger transactions, and regulatory filings such as annual and quarterly financial statements.

With the increasing globalization of various fields, XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) that adopts XML techniques into financial reports is gathering attention as a worldwide standard for the financial systems of a new age in the field of finance.
